Coffin burial of Balangay Shrine Museum

Hold on, man. We don’t go anywhere with “scary,” “spooky,” “haunted,” or “forbidden” in the title. ~From Scooby-Doo

There is nothing spooky about the display at Balangay Shrine  Musuem in Butuan, Philippines.

Skulls and ancient relics on display do spark historical interest to visitors like me. I could hear my colleagues saying, “Is this for real? Did the ancient people of Butuan really built these stuff? They made those coffins with those simple tools?”

Visiting this place made realize that there is so much to learn about Mindanao’s past. As much as I like old tales, I must admit that I haven’t read a well-written history about how Pre-Colonial Filipinos who lived in this part of the island.
