Photography 101: Connect

Adenium obesum ‘SERENA’

A stem of hybrid Desert Rose was connected to a Bangkok Kalachuchi to form a single plant. The gardener aims to combine SERENA’s  beautiful flowers and variegated leaves  with the roots of a “local” variety of Desert Rose that offers vigor and resilience. Horticulturists call this process grafting. Since hybrid Adeniums may take years to produce seedlings, grafting can reduce the time to flowering and shorten the propagation program.
