Weekly Photo Challenge: Launch

Pterocarpus indicus

(The IUCN Red List of Threatened Species put the Narra species in the Vulnerable conservation status.)

Kenji holding Narra seeds

…my 2nd grader nephew named Kenji brought these home from school…

…and he demonstrates how to launch the pods…

…and concludes that the flat 4–6 cm diameter wing of each pod causes the fruit to propel in the air…

  5. Oh my gosh!!! I used to place with those as a kid. It’s a free and fun instant toy from mother nature. Cool photos! Happy New Year….

  6. Interesting information about the tree and seed pods and great interpretation of the topic. What child wouldn’t love playing with those seed pods?
